Improfit took part in the XI LATAM Renewables Congress “Smart Energy”, organized by AUDER — a key gathering that brought together technical, political, and social leaders to reflect on the energy future of the region.
Representing the agency, Daniel Laino, Managing Partner at Improfit, spoke about the importance of rethinking impact assessments in renewable energy projects through integration-driven approaches.
“Today, the social license of projects is just as critical as the final engineering design for things to move forward,” emphasized Laino during his presentation.
Five Lessons for Community Engagement
Drawing from his experience alongside Colectiva, Laino shared five key takeaways that guide their work in community engagement and consensus building:
- Start early.
- Take the floor.
- Maintain ongoing dialogue.
- Build synergies with institutions.
- Create shared value.
He underlined that communication and consensus are no longer optional in the energy sector:
“Silence is no longer an option. If you don’t put your version out there, someone else will tell another one,” he concluded.
A Space for Regional Energy Dialogue
Improfit thanks AUDER for fostering this important exchange and for the opportunity to highlight the value of conversation, agreement, and consensus-building — always keeping communities at the center.
